I have followed the letters in recent editions of the Clifton Local News regarding the tram. I would like to say that the tram would be great for Clifton and the other areas.
No one has mentioned the help it would give people with pushchairs, old people or disabled people.
They would be able to travel from Clifton to Bulwell, Hucknall, Hyson Green, Chilwell and Beeston. The tram would also help people arrive quicker for work, instead of waiting in traffic jams.
I witness numerous occasions where people drive down there, often at high speed. As usual, it will probably need a fatality or bad accident before something is done.
Maybe in some way the traffic wardens could be put to more use rather than taking their job too seriously, but then that’s another story.
When will we be having our main road through Radcliffe resurfaced? It’s overdue with all the pot-holes and sunken old repair jobs, not to mention the uneven man-hole covers and grates.
Come on councillors, put a word in for us residents who daily have to suffer the poorly maintained roads in our village. Thanks.
It’s bump bump all the time with holes here and holes there. Everyone knows who caused the problem – Diamond Cable about ten years ago when they dug up all the main roads and left them in such a mess.
This has resulted in them being the state they are now.

Is it time that the main road that runs through Radcliffe-on-Trent was resurfaced? It is in an appalling state, as one rumbles along and the wheels judder over pot-holes and poorly filled in previous roadworks over the years. It has been filled over with myriads of repair joins that have now sunk below the surface. This causes both car wheels to bang together at the same time, increasing the pronunciation of each dreaded hump and hollow ridden over. It is not much better up Shelford Road. I think it is now time to ask the village council about having our roads completely resurfaced, as was the case in Burton Joyce earlier in the year?

I write in reference to the poor state of the trees overhanging the pavement, all the way from the Clifton part of Langthwaite Road on to Bainton Road. When it rains the puddles collect in the gutters and traffic goes roaring past and soaks you through. Some drivers strangely find this funny. Also, when the crows and pigeons roost at night, the droppings are all over the pavement which we have to walk on. I hope the council will soon do something about it.

I was quite bemused by the letter in your last issue (Local News – November) from
P. Cowell regarding the junction on Radcliffe Road and Abbey Road.
Having lived on the junction at Radcliffe Road and Davies Road for over 40 years I would not advise anyone to use this junction, especially in the rush hour.
Rarely a week goes past without an accident, mainly caused by speeding traffic over Gamston bridge, quite often using the wrong lane. We local residents never use it and friendly it is not.
