The duo knocked out top-seeds Duilio Beretta and Roberto Quiróz in the second round and beat German fifth-seeds Peter Heller and Kevin Krawietz in the semi-final.
It was an all British affair in the final but their opponents, Liam Broady and Tom Farquharson, came out on top winning 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 on Court One.
Morgan (17) attended Dayncourt School and Loughborough Tennis Academy. He made the most of Dayncourt’s personalised learning programme and followed a bespoke package that enabled him to gain his education whilst following his dreams of playing professional tennis. The school’s assistant head teacher, Dan Philpotts, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for George and acknowledgement of all the hard work and effort that has been put in.
“The future looks incredibly positive and credit has to be given to the team of staff at Dayncourt who have contributed to his success.”

The company, that runs head-to-head in Radcliffe and Bingham with established operator TrentBarton, will launch the Red2 on 5th September – which is a direct service linking Cotgrave with the Victoria Centre.
Running every 20 minutes during the daytime, hourly in the evening and every 30 minutes a Sunday, the service will also extend to Cropwell Bishop at peak times and early evenings.
Premiere brand manager, Jamie Swift, said: “We have had fantastic success on the Red1 from Bingham and Radcliffe with more customers joining us every week.
“Not only have we grown the market by offering cheaper fares and convenient stops at Victoria Centre, it has made the existing operator on there introduce a cheaper ticket option, so competition is beneficial for all customers.
“We now believe that the people of Cotgrave deserve some competition and will give them a choice of operator.
“We will offer a more direct service along Radcliffe Road, run around the city loop to serve Victoria Centre, Friar Lane and Broadmarsh Bus Station, plus our range of great value fares such as day returns from only £3, weekly tickets at £12 and 28-day unlimited travel cards for only £40.”
There are also improvements to the Bingham and Radcliffe Red1 service from the 5th September. There are new earlier morning buses, evening buses now run every 40 minutes and a new Sunday service running every 20 minutes. For more information call 0115 985 1111or visit premierebuses.co.uk.
Under 16s save on bus travel
A new travel card for under 16s has been launched, valid on both school and local service buses. Local company Premiere Travel has started to issue ‘Termcards’ specifically for under 16s using it’s school buses, but these cards can also be used for free travel on services at weekends and during school holidays. The travel cards are valid for a full school term and can work out to less than £5 a week. Parents can save more money by paying up front for either two terms or even the whole year.
Sales manager for Premiere, Gemma Robinson, said: “We are trying to encourage all under 16s using our school buses to sign up for a termcard. Not only does it save them money, but eliminates the problems for parents of their child’s cash fares being lost, stolen or spent on something else.
“There are usually issues with return tickets being lost during the school day too so with the termcard they will only need to carry this card around with them for travel for the whole term.”
Premiere are also putting on extra buses to local schools from the new term in September. The Red1 service will have extra morning trips from Radcliffe to Toot Hill School in Bingham and new service 2A will run from Cotgrave to Dayncourt School. Termcards are valid on school routes 51, 52, 53, 53A, 53B and 63 serving South Wolds school in Keyworth as well as the 53 to Toot Hill. School bus 415 from West Bridgford to Becket School on Wilford Lane is also included in the scheme.
West Bridgford students attending Loughborough High School can also save money by using their termcards on the X9 service to Loughborough.

Bingham author Peter Youds is about to publish the third novel in the ambitious Ties of Blood series. These are original historical novels which tell the gripping story of how a small British army, under-funded and poorly supplied, defied the might of Napoleon for seven years, before finally defeating his forces at Waterloo. The new book called ‘A Different Kind of War’, deals with events which took place exactly 200 years ago, and it features sieges, skirmishes and full-blooded battles.
The story is told through the adventures of a lively cast of characters – both real and imagined – and gives a taste of the drama of that desperate struggle taking place in Portugal and Spain all those years ago.
It is a tale packed with adventure, focusing on honour and betrayal, hope and despair, love and death.
The Ties of Blood series will run to eight novels and new titles will appear every year around the 200th anniversary of each significant event.
‘Alone With Glory’ (2008) concerned itself with the dramatic Corunna campaign and ‘The Colour of Blood’ (2009) told the tale of the British successes in the Douro/Talavera battles.
Peter Youds told The Local News: “Discovering what ordinary men and women had to go through during those days is fascinating for me and I want more people to find out about it.
“As well as the novels, the website (bicorn.co.uk) gives useful background to how people lived.
“This includes the recipes for the food they ate, the clothes they wore, the meaning of old-fashioned words, and all kinds of other information to back up the stories.
“These are the times that inspired ‘War and Peace’, ‘Vanity Fair’ and Jane Austen’s novels, as well as the tales of Patrick O’Brian, CS Forester and Bernard Cornwell.
“My own stories use fictional characters to describe very real events that influenced the way the world has developed right up to today.
“There is plenty of swashbuckling and romance, but the true history is also there, told from all sides.
“I hope readers will become as hooked as I am, and enjoy taking this epic journey with me.”
‘A Different Kind of War’ by Peter Youds is published by Bicorn Books and is available online.
The school was asked to come up with a design for the side of the vehicle that would be colourful and bright and remind residents to recycle wherever they can.
Councillor Debbie Mason said: “We were delighted to receive all of the designs from the children and we had a very difficult job deciding which ones to choose to put on the side of the vehicle. The imagination the children showed in their drawings was fantastic and now we have converted their ideas and drawings into a great reminder about the benefits of recycling for all to see.”
Brian Hillary, head teacher at the school, added: “As a school we are very keen on environmental issues, such as how to become greener, so we jumped at the chance to work with our local council. I think the vehicle looks great and I’m very proud of all of the children for getting so involved and coming up with such great designs.”

A new school which will offer exciting new learning opportunities for the young people of Cotgrave and Radcliffe is to be established in time for August 2011.
The partnership will provide a radical education programme that will meet each student’s individual needs and make the most of their personal learning achievements. Students will be offered a broad range of vocational qualifications alongside the traditional academic curriculum, to suit their needs and interests. This will include joint post-16 and diploma courses.
South Nottingham College aims to harness its experience and expertise in delivering an outstanding educational experience together with Dayncourt School’s academic strengths. The partnership will provide learners with a personalised learning approach focussing upon inspirational, dynamic teaching and a broad, flexible and dynamic curriculum which will encourage learners to become more independent and resilient and ultimately better prepare them for the challenges that lay ahead of them.
The partnership will also contribute to the community cohesion agenda through extended services and placing the school at the heart of the local communities by providing the local community with access to specialist services, access to adult learning, ICT and sports facilities and by acting as a catalyst for all stakeholders to bring the community together.
Tim Mitchell, head of Dayncourt School, said: “The partnership between Dayncourt School and South Nottingham College, which has been supported by the County Council, will provide a new school and put students at the very heart of what we are seeking to achieve. Each student will have a personalised programme of study, because this model recognises that every student is unique and learns at different rates. This proposal will secure the future of the school and provide flexible options for our students.”
Malcolm Cowgill, South Nottingham College principal, added: “This is a unique opportunity for current and future learners in Radcliffe-on-Trent and Cotgrave to access the learning they need, when they need it, not when the system determines they should have it. We are committed to ‘Success Through Learning’ and are dedicated to supporting development of skills, attitude and knowledge.”

The Ruddington Framework Knitters Museum (RKFM) will be celebrating 40 years with the publication of a commemorative calendar for 2011. This unique complex of listed frameshops, cottages and outbuildings arranged around a garden courtyard was established in 1971.
The site was restored to show the living and working conditions of the framework knitters who occupied it throughout the 19th century by the local community, who saved it from the bulldozer and put it under the control of a charitable trust.
Last year, the RFKM won the East Midlands prize for Museum Learning and has recently been awarded accredited status by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council. The calendar is available for £5 from the RFKM shop and many other local retail outlets. Proceeds go to the museum – a registered charity. For further information on the museum visit rfkm.org.
