DISMAY AT WILD FLOWER AREA
I am a resident of Newton Drive and I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the decision that was made to create a wild flower meadow on the open space at the end of Newton Drive in Compton Ares.
I (and many neighbours) are unaware of any consultation with the residents of the surrounding houses and/or users of this facility about this change of use. Is this another example of a unilateral decision taken on our behalf?
Recently a pathway has been cut (via mowing) through the grass. This process takes at least 30 minutes. Surely it would only take a little longer to cut the full area multiplied by four/five cuts a year. I suggest this money could be found. Surely as a community and neighbourhood we should stand up to these decisions on behalf of everyone that uses the field.

I noticed this letter whilst I was waiting for the RBC response to my own enquiry about the the park area at the end of Lansdowne Drive.
It would appear that they had decided in January to designate 10 areas in Rushcliffe as wild flower/ wild life reserves, they make a point of saying this is not a cost cutting exercise but I have been hard put to find any mention of intent or consultation with the local population.
I do however recall that when the playground in the park was up for renewal they would not extend it as the grass area was used for ballgames, you could loose a small child in there now let alone a ball.
This particular park is bordered on three sides by Housing Association properties so I am expecting the next move to be an attempt to palm the upkeep on to them.
