COTGRAVE’S FESTIVAL OF SPORT
Residents in Cotgrave are getting into the spirit of the London Olympics 2012 by running a Festival of Sport from Monday 25th to Saturday 30th June. During the weekdays a wide variety of activities will take place and these range from wellie wanging, bowls, football and darts.
In all 25 different activities will be available for members of the community to come and try their hands. These activities showcase the tremendous opportunities to spend leisure time in Cotgrave.
The Festival of Sport will culminate in a family fun day finale in the village on Saturday 30th June, with side shows, stalls, entertainment and presentations to celebrate the week’s achievements.
There will be a 30k walk around Cotgrave and a competitive 10k run around the Country Park. For those wanting to expend less energy there will be a shorter 3k and 1k runs, tug of war and the inevitable bouncy castle.
The three Cotgrave schools will take a full part in the Festival by holding sporting activities each day and coming together for a major sports afternoon on Wednesday 27th June. Each of the 800 or so pupils has been asked to grow a pot of ‘Festival Flowers’ which, as well as being judged and awarded prizes, will form the focus for an aerial photograph on the Finale day.
More details about the Festival can be found in June’s edition of Cotgrave Connections, by telephoning the Festival Hub on 0115 989 3876 or by visiting the website cotgravecommunity.com.
