BINGHAM MODEL RAILWAY CLUB NEWS

By Graham Dean
In 2008, Edward Watts of Radcliffe-on-Trent, an enthusiastic railway modeller, went for a walk and never returned. His widow Lesley then had the problem of finding suitable homes for his two N Gauge model railways. One was portable and soon was welcomed by Edward’s son Brew.
However, the second layout was more of a problem, being built into a 14ft by 12ft room and not designed for removal. The layout was beautifully constructed. Lesley wanted the layout to go where it would be appreciated and where the layout
development would continue as Edward would have wished.
In 2010, she contacted BMRC member Chris Williams. Chris is one of a relatively small number of BMRC members nearer the start of his working life than the end and had no layout of his own, although he had plans in that direction. He was understandably amazed and appreciative when Lesley made him an offer of taking everything free of charge (this included the layout, locos, wagons and coaches).
Chris’s plans include adding an ‘Edward Watts’ brewery and getting the completed layout a mention in the National Railway Modelling magazines.
