PLANS TO SOLVE CLIFTON PARKING ISSUE
Your Clifton Local News understands that Nottingham City Council plan to try and solve major parking problems in the area. There is currently a huge parking issue with the overspill from Nottingham Trent University leading to problems on surrounding roads around Rivergreen, Fabis Drive and in Clifton Village. The City Council have ignored numerous emails from The Local News on this issue, but we understand a project to introduce parking permits will begin in the near future. This may be extended to other roads if the need arises.
Local resident, Mr Edwards, said: “When I took my driving test some 30 plus years ago, it was against the law to park with one wheel on the pavement. Why do I often see police officers walking up and down Sunninghill Drive and other roads with nothing done about student parking on both sides of the road?
It becomes dangerous when trying to enter and leave. It is time to stop this form of parking.”
Dawn added: “My daughter is from Clifton and goes to NTU Cliton campus and she also works there. She had driving lessons and passed her test, got a car, taxed and insured it and is not allowed to park at the campus as she is not disabled or living out of town. How unfair is that? I totally sympathise with the residents, although my daughter has been physically threatened on more than one occasion for parking. I think the University should provide parking.”
