HAPPY WITH A SAINSBURY’S
I read many comments in last month’s Local News about the lack of support for a Sainsbury’s supermarket on Wilford Lane. The Asda is the only big supermarket this side of Bridgford. Other supermarkets near-by, such as Co-Op (also on Wilford Lane), just don’t have the range of products to appease the local shopper – well that’s my opinion anyway.
Increased choice will surely bring more competitive prices. I currently shop at the Castle Marina Sainsbury’s and would be delighted to have one closer to home.
It seems to me it is a case of the NIMBYs again – I will happily see one built but not in my back yard!

A good point Colin,The NIMBY attitude has been around for a long time,The Tram gets a lot of them out of their minds,A new retailer is a boon for us.
I have great fears for the safety of our local people if the Sainsburys store is granted permission to build. The children of the Becket and Emmanuel schools deserve to arrive on time and safely. The school sites are also used at weekends for various sporting activities for our young people. As we know, there are plans for a huge multi-health centre on Wilford Lane. I am not a NIMBY. I do worry about the local residents and school children/staff who have to use the road day in day out. More heavy goods vehicles, buses and cars do not bode well in my opinion. The large supermarket chains have a very good online ordering/delivery service for those who feel there aren’t enough shops out there.
