MRS JOAN TYLER

The RNLI report with great sadness that Mrs Joan Tyler passed away in October.
John Hawkins told The Local News: “Forty years ago, was a founder member of the Lady Bay Ladies Guild of the RNLI. The group has since grown into the West Bridgford and District Branch. Joan was the most committed volunteer the service could have wished for. Her book-keeping skills were impeccable and she was always willing to take on new initiatives. It was only in March of this year that she finally relinquished her position as hon treasurer.
“The RNLI awarded Joan its bronze, silver and gold badges and, on one occasion, she represented the branch at a Royal Garden Party. The RNLI will long remember her service towards ‘Saving Lives at Sea’.
Many local people will remember Joan Tyler as the ‘Lifeboat Lady’ and perhaps that is as good an epitaph as any.”
