MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH SOCIETY

I completely agree with Mark’s comment (Local News – August) and cannot stand the reaction of people who are quite obviously in the wrong. I have three children seats in my car and have a disabled badge for my son, who has cerebral palsy.
If they aren’t in the car with me, I will park in the furthest space away from the entrance to avoid taking a space I shouldn’t – only to see some smart-alec in a two-seat sports car with no child taking the very nearest space outside the store for parent and child parking. If you do say something you will get a shirty response.
This is a problem indicative of society today. Little respect for others and a selfishness bred from the greed of Thatcher’s 80s, where it became about looking after number one first and not caring for others.
I’ve seen an old lady pushed to the floor on the underground trying to get on, as youngsters tried to push past her for a seat. Mark my words they got off and helped her back on once the issue was raised sternly enough. We’ve spared the rod for too long.
It’s time people of this country started looking at themselves before looking to others to blame. I see when I do wrong, I’m not blameless, but as long as you see it you can do better next time and that is what I try to do.
