ROYAL WEDDING CELEBRATIONS IN PLUMTREE

There were celebrations all across the world for the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, including dozens of street parties in the Borough of Rushcliffe. The celebrations started early for Burnside Hall Pre-School Nursery in Plumtree, who held their end of term party in honour of the royal wedding.
Children form Keyworth, Plumtree village and West Bridgford attended the red, white and blue themed event.
Early Years teacher, Karen Richards, said: “The pre-school has been running for over 40 years and we have records and pictures of past pupils celebrating other royal events such as the Silver Jubilee of 1977 and the wedding of Charles and Diana in 1981.
“We thought it would be lovely to provide these very small children with their own memories of this historic occasion.”
Manager, Kathy Hogg, added: “The event was a traditional British community affair, with lunch provided by Plumtree Fish and Chips and a local ice cream vendor delivering a treat to over 50 excited children.”
