SO SOLID CREW KNEW WHAT TO DO
Scott Jackson, his brother Shaun and Ed Medhust – aka ‘Crew of the Year’ – proved their title was justified again when they saved a 73-year-old woman’s life in Keyworth. Whilst doing their rounds emptying bins, they noticed that a bin was not put out by a local pensioner. Instead of just passing by, they went to investigate and found a lady collapsed by her bin who was clearly unconscious. She had been out there all night and was also hypothermic.
The trio fortunately had also just attended council-funded first aid training and so knew just what to do.
Scott said: “We checked her over and put her in the recovery position and phoned for an ambulance. “We stayed with her until the emergency services arrived as we were really concerned and wanted to make sure she was in the best hands and then we carried on with our work.”
The patient’s brother rang Rushcliffe Borough Council and said: “I am so grateful. They saved her life. This crew is without doubt what makes Rushcliffe frontline services so great.”
This recycling crew have proved their worth to Rushcliffe already by winning Crew of the Year in the letsrecyle.com awards. The trio attended a special award ceremony in London last year to honour their excellence.
