LIFEBOAT CELEBRATION LUNCHEON

The RNLI North Region recently held a celebration luncheon and their 2010 presentation of awards at York Racecourse. This is an annual event where the RNLI present awards to volunteer fundraisers from across the region in recognition of their work.
This year the West Bridgford Branch was proud and honoured to have three of its members receive awards.
Gillian Christian (branch souvenir secretary) received her gold badge, Graham Christian (branch secretary) was awarded the silver badge and John Hawkins (branch press officer) a bronze badge. The citation on the reverse of each badge reads ‘In recognition of his or her valuable support of the lifeboat service’.
These awards were presented by RNLI crew members from across the North region, who put their own lives at risk each time they go out to sea.
The crews were drawn from the all-weather boat, the inshore rescue boat and the beach lifeguards, and they all emphasised that without the fundraisers’ hard work throughout the year, they could not save lives at sea.
