BUSY TIMES FOR LOCAL MALE VOICE CHOIR

Following their recent donation of £2,645 to theLincs and Notts Air Ambulance, several members of the Radcliffe Male Voice Choir visited the helicopter and met the crew during a trip to Tollerton Airfield. They were very impressed with the work that the service provides to the public and were told that their support in keeping the helicopter airborne has helped to save up to six lives.
Meanwhile, as a post-script to the visit of the Russian Ladies Choir to the UK in March, the choir has received a message from their leader, Irina, thanking everyone for their enthusiastic welcome.
The message said: “We liked London. We had time to see a lot of parks, museums, etc, but there are a lot of people, exactly like Moscow. Therefore, we remembered our quiet cosy Radcliffe all the time.”
The choir recently sang in St Barnabas Cathedral in Nottingham, as part of the cathedral’s Flower and Music Festival, surrounded by wonderful displays of flowers on the theme of ‘The Artist’s Palette’. The audience gave the choir a superb welcome and they have been invited back to take part in the BBC Radio Nottingham Carol Concert in December, just before this year’s Christmas Charity Concert in St Mary’s Church in Radcliffe.
Last month, members of the choir and friends enjoyed a ramble between Colston Bassett and Kinoulton with a pub lunch. The programme for July includes an outing to Sandringham, as well as the annual golf competition and concerts in Ironville in Derbyshire and Stoneleigh in Warwickshire.  More details online at radcliffeontrentmalevoicechoir.org.uk.
