WARNING AFTER SERIES OF CHURCH BREAK-INS IN RUSHCLIFFE

Residents are being urged to be vigilant following a series of break-ins at churches in South Nottinghamshire.
In the last three weeks, there have been six burglaries – or attempted burglaries – at churches in Bunny, Plumtree, Granby, Colston Bassett and Langar. Items stolen in the break-ins include a collection box, safes, and church records.
Police are visiting every church in the South Nottinghamshire area to offer security and crime prevention advice.
Rushcliffe South Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant, Amy Billington, said: “It is upsetting that local churches are being targeted in this way as much of what’s been stolen is unique and irreplaceable.
“The Neighbourhood Policing Team is making contact with each church to carry out a security assessment and to offer advice to prevent this sort of crime.
“We ask those living near churches to be vigilant and to let us know if they see anything suspicious.”
Anyone with any information about these crimes is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 0300 300 99 99. Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
