RUGBY SUCCESS

West Bridgford RFU Under-18s squad came runners-up in the Notts, Lincs, Derbyshire Under-18 7-a side rugby competition. They won all their league matches, including successes against Matlock, Ilkeston,and Ashfield, and then drawing against Paviors. The final was played against Paviors again where they drew 28-28 and Paviors won a drop goal penalty shoot-out.
The Paviors coach said: “Please congratulate all your squad for their performances in the tournament. It was a real pity that the competition had to end in such a way, especially when, arguably, West Bridgford had played the better sevens rugby.”
Meanwhile, a squad of ten West Bridgford U17s went on to win the Notts, Lincs, Derbyshire 7-a-side plate final.
They beat Melbourne by 28 points to 26 in a very close and exciting game of rugby.
This ended the 2009/10 season with two successful final appearances in two weeks.
