NEW MAYOR FOR RUSHCLIFFE

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s new Mayor is Councillor Mrs Marie Males. Cllr Males is from East Leake and is married to Keith. They have four daughters and four grandchildren. She actually worked for the former Mayor, Cllr McGowan, when they both worked at British Gypsum.
Her political career began when she was appointed to East Leake Parish Council in 1972 and she was elected as a Borough Councillor in 1979. She has been chairman of Rushcliffe’s development control and leisure committees, as well as a member of housing and leisure committees and the local development framework group.
Her interests include holidaying, travelling and following sport. The Mayor’s charity is The Ear Foundation, which raises funds for post-operative care and education for deaf children following cochlea implants.
The new Deputy Mayor is Cllr Gordon Moore. Cllr Moore lives in Upper Saxondale and is married to Georgia. He has two daughters and two stepsons.
