WORK TO START ON ENERGY EFFICIENT HOMES IN TOLLERTON

Tollerton businessman Roy Pickavance has been given planning permission to build eight sustainable, energy efficient homes on land at the back of Lothian Road in the village.
Work has started on demolishing the old workshops and industrial units and preparing the ground for building work to commence on the detached five-bedroom executive homes. Construction work is likely to begin this month.
“These homes will be built to provide really energy efficient living,” said Roy, who is already living in the first home built on the site.
“The advanced eco-friendly technology includes Low E insulated glazing units, an air source heat pump, a heat recovery ventilation system, underfloor heating, rainwater harvesting system to save on water usage and low energy lighting.”
Roy and his family have lived and worked in Tollerton since 1950 and it is his intention to remain here in retirement.
“The whole issue of sustainable development in Tollerton is obviously close to our hearts given our long term commitment to the village,” he added.
“We have endeavoured to ensure the design is respectful of the local environment but offers something unique for which Tollerton can be justifiably proud.”
