LOCAL DOG MESS HORROR
DFS in last month’s newspaper (Local News – April) is quite right to criticise the dog mess on Wilford embankment. This land has unkempt long grass, owing to council neglect, so many dog owners do not bother to scoop the poop.
Unadvertised, unsigned, and little used, the footpath has never been good enough to be surfaced. Two years from now, this area will be removed for the new tramway to Clifton. Only after that can we expect new planting of attractive maintained trees and shrubs, and a proper footpath the authorities
care about.

Francis Henderson’s letter of last month reflects my own experience about Wilford embankment. Dogs foul the ground next to the red bins, and no attempt is made to clear up the mess. Without a doubt, there is more dog muck in the grass than in the bins. The footpath next to the industrial estate is covered in diesel oil and chemical spillage, and the patch next to Ruddington Lane is always waterlogged in winter. Why can’t the parks and recreation department of Rushcliffe Council look after the land properly? And any Tom Dick or Harry can look down into the adjacent back gardens. Surely this is disconcerting for the residents. Roll on the tram to tidy up this scruffy hovel, I’d say!

DOG FOULING DISPUTE
The frequent letters concerning ‘dog fouling’ is a serious health hazard and is obviously widespread amongst inconsiderate dog owners. I have witnessed this on a frequent basis when owners from the Lady Bay area walk their dogs along the canal bank. This is usually dusk or early morning when it is thought that they will not be seen. They know who they are, as do their neighbours.
