DISMAY AT PARKING CHARGES

As a regular user of all West Bridgford car parks after 6pm, I thought I should bring to your attention that the council are now charging to park after this time. It always used to be free from 6pm and overnight, but now the charge is £1 until midnight.
I am not so annoyed about the charge but the fact this was never publicly announced. Unless I had read the small print on the machine I would never have known. When did this policy come into force? Can anyone shed any light? A traffic warden was seen ticketing cars after 7pm. I warn fellow motorists to pay their pound.

Yes – I too am expremeley annoyed by this. Especially after i have just recieved a £50 parking fine. I have been parking in this car park for many years after 6pm and it has always been free – tonight however, I came back to my car to find a £50 penalty notice. I am so angry – i can barely contain myself. i am a law abiding citizen and would gladly have paid the £1 parking fee had I known about it, although there is nothing to inform you of this except at the pay meter, which of course you would not visit if you were not expecting to pay. What was really irritating about the whole affair is that the car park was only 1/4 full – there where loads of spaces. This is just a money making scheme – the sort of thing that really raises the hackles of law abiding citizens against the establishment. Rushcliffe council you should be ashamed of yourselves – this is just legalized robbery in my mind.

I too have just had a parking fine outside Marks and Spencer on a Sauturday night just a few days after it came in. If you look at the notice it is very difficult to see that you have to pay. I tried to appeal but they say there are no grounds, it is clearly stated. I have been coming to West Bridgford for 20 years. I guess I’ll go some where else now.

Yes I too got caught by this. Really annoying as we only drove because it was raining so we got out of the car and ran, without thinking to check to see whether the parking times had changed (always been free after 6pm!). No sign as you enter the car park to warn you, just the A4 sheet of paper on a lamppost in small font saying they were going to change it. Checked the Rushcliffe website and it said a ticket was only required until 6pm!!! Tried to appeal on these grounds but they haven’t changed their mind. Funny that now they have changed the website to make it more clear…

I have just come on line to find out more information.

I have been working on assignment for Uni all summer and parking in this car park after 6 with no ticket as like the above, I thought it was free. If you have been used to this of couse you aren’t going to go to the machine when you think its free. Well I almost cried in front of the traffic warden last night when I got a ticket, caught him sticking the nasty black and yellow packet on my wind screen! I have obviously had very lucky escapes, but I honestly had no idea, when the traffic warden said it had been in force 4 months, I gulped. So now I have decided not to use the library and use my University library instead. I think this is just a nasty way of the councils trying to recoup money because of their debts. I wasn’t one for job cuts within the council, and in support of my council, to be honest if thats the way you are going to treat honest law abbiding citizens ….. well, what can I say?

write to the council and plead to have the ticket cancelled based on how you have seen the situation in the past – what do you have to loose
