PASSION PLAY AT ST. GILES
St. Giles are staging a passion play in the Church from Monday 29th March to Wednesday 31st March 2010. This is the first time for many years that a dramatic event of this nature is being performed in the church and the cast of 13 is made up of St. Giles’ members.
This moving play, written by the late Betty Haworth, is based on the dramatic events in the hours before the crucifixion of Jesus and is also based on the account of St. John.
The scenes are set in the courtyard of Pontius Pilate’s house and the play explores the mind games played between Pilate and the High Priest and the ever increasing doubts and fears of Pilate and his wife Procula and then the realisation of what the finale of Jesus’ life will be.
Director, Tony Vokes, told The Local News: “This is a wonderful challenge for all those involved, for the cast, the production team and for those working hard behind-the-scenes backstage.”
Tickets are £5 for adults, £4 for senior citizens and students and £2.50 for young people up to and including the age of 16. They can be obtained from the Box Office by calling 0115 984 7749, or from members of St. Giles Church. Tickets will also be on sale at the door for each performance.
Performances commence at 7.30pm and will last for approximately one hour. Refreshments will be served after each performance.
