SOUTH NOTTINGHAMSHIRE CRIME CONTINUES TO FALL

The dedicated work of South Nottinghamshire policing teams is paying off as crime figures continue to fall. Areas throughout the division are enjoying a dramatic reduction in crime in comparison to the same time last year.
Figures for January 2010 show that vehicle crime is down by 64% in comparison to January 2009.
Incidents of fraud and forgery have also fallen, down by 34% and robbery has also reduced by 32%. House burglaries have dropped by 30% and criminal damage has fallen by 20%. Sexual offences have reduced by 10%, violence against a person has fallen by 9% and drug offences are down by 7%.
Supt Paul Anderson, Deputy Divisional Commander for the South Nottinghamshire area, said: “We have dedicated Neighbourhood Policing Teams throughout the division, who are committed to making a difference.
“We have seen crime fall significantly in the South Nottinghamshire area and this is all down to our determined approach and tackling known offenders.”
Initiatives being used by the teams in South Nottinghamshire include the Integrated Offender Management (IOM) team, which was recently established to work with the most prolific offenders in the area. The team identifies offenders who could benefit from the IOM initiative and offers them support and guidance in an attempt to change their ways.
