GREENING WEST BRIDGFORD READY FOR LAUNCH
An important community event is being held to launch Greening West Bridgford. Residents decided at a public meeting last November that they wanted to do something locally to tackle climate change. A list of simple actions has been drawn-up which everyone can take part in. The launch event will be held on Saturday 20th March from 11am until 2pm at the Becket School Hall on Wilford Lane.
Maureen Harms, co-ordinator of the event, told The Local News: “This is a campaign with a difference. Everyone who comes along will be able to find out how to save water, save fuel, save money and learn how their actions can be part of the solution to Climate Change. Whether people are aged five or 95 they can join in and make a measurable difference to our planet. There will be colourful displays, demonstrations and music by different schools and community groups, as well as refreshments and fun for all.”
Greening West Bridgford is part of
a national campaign being undertaken by communities across England and is being supported by Rushcliffe Borough Council.
Katherine Marriott, from Rushcliffe Borough Council, added: “It is wonderful to see a community coming together to do something positive about Climate Change. This is exactly the sort of local action we support.”
