CUP JOY FOR WEST BRIDGFORD RUGBY CLUB
West Bridgford Rugby Club Under 10s started their silverware collection by winning the Prima Tiger Bowl, which took place before the Leicester Tigers European Cup Clash against Viadana last month at Welford Road. The U10s beat a strong Bury St Edmonds team in the semi-final, in front at half time 2-0 and managing to keep on top with some great defending and tackling with the final scoreline of 3-1.
The team came up against Burton-upon-Trent in the final. They started the match with a quick try and continued with a powerful forward drive creating great ball for the backs, and eventually beating Burton-upon-Trent 4-1.
David Howard, West Bridgford Under-10s manager, said: “It’s been absolutely fantastic. We have not been able to train since December the 14th because of the weather but the team were ready for it and they are thrilled. The boys realise what an opportunity they have had to play at Welford Road.”
West Bridgford also had a photo shoot and a lap of honour around Welford Road at half-time in-front of a full crowd, including a large number of supporters from West Bridgford Rugby Club. This provided a fantastic day for the boys to remember for a long time to come. The Prima Tiger Bowl is an addition to the Prima Tiger Cup being run by Leicester Tigers Rugby Club.
