CONTINUED INVESTMENT IN DAYNCOURT SCHOOL

In continuing to ensure Dayncourt School Specialist Sports College meets the needs of its young people and local community, more exciting new developments are on the horizon. In addition to developing the new school in partnership with South Nottingham College, it has also secured additional funding to enhance its facilities. As a result of a successful Ofsted inspection, the school were able to apply to the Department for Children, Schools and Families for funding to refurbish or renew existing sporting facilities. In collaboration with Radcliffe-on-Trent Swimming Pool Association (ROTSPA), the school has managed to secure £40,000 to enhance the swimming pool changing facilities.
Dan Philpotts, assistant head teacher, told The Local News: “This is great news for the school and local community and further evidence that this is a massively improving school. I am so pleased for everyone involved, particularly ROTSPA who have worked with the school for a number of years and have missed out on previous funding streams.” The pool is currently used to provide curriculum swimming time to Dayncourt and its neighbouring primary schools, whilst in the evening ROTSPA manage the facility whose provision includes four independent learn to swim schools and a variety of swim sessions for the general public. The money will be used to refurbish tired changing facilities and will hopefully serve to attract more people to use the swimming pool.
Head teacher, Tim Mitchell, added: “The school has a fantastic track record of engaging with its local community and I hope that this encourages more people to make use of the fantastic facilities we have on offer. These are exceptionally exciting times for everybody.”
