BECOME AN ACTIVE FAMILY AT CLIFTON LEISURE CENTRE

Looking for affordable ways you and your family can get active and have fun together? Why not pop along to an Active Families session at Clifton Leisure Centre. Families can take part in a variety of health and fitness activities every Wednesday from 4pm until 6pm for just 50p per person. Activities include; sport, games, dance, face painting, parachute games and activity wall. No booking is required, just turn up and take part.
Councillor David Mellen said: “Active Families is a great way to educate the whole family about the benefits of exercise and healthy eating and will give families the skills and confidence to make better informed choices; as well as helping stick to those New Year resolutions.”
The ‘Active Families project’ is a multi-agency approach to deliver weekly activity sessions in city leisure centres, suitable for the whole family. The project, funded by NHS Nottingham City, has been developed as part of Nottingham’s Early Intervention Programme to get more adults and children taking part in physical activities together, particularly in areas with high childhood obesity and low physical activity levels.
Since the project launched in May approximately 600 people (172 families) have participated. Clifton Leisure Centre is the latest leisure centre to deliver weekly Active Family sessions. The sessions are open to all families and are also used as the next step for people who have finished existing physical activity programmes including ‘Go 4 It’ (childhood obesity project for 5-13 year olds) and the ‘Active Schools project’.
