HOLME PIERREPONT HALL SPRING GARDEN & HOUSE OPEN

In February and March, visitors will be able to follow the development of the Spring Garden at Holme Pierrepont Hall. There will be snowdrops, daffodils, hellebores and shrubs of winter interest, within a framework of yews. You enter the house through the Mediaeval Lodgings with mellow brick timber and plaster walls, oak furniture and Pierrepont portraits.
The principal Upper Lodging has superb ceiling timbers dating from the 1400s. There is also a Victorian Bedroom with a four-poster bed. The Long Gallery has family portraits and can seat up to 100 people for weddings and business events. The Charles II Grand Staircase leads to the formal Courtyard Garden, with an elaborate parterre.
Opening times (from 1st Feb to 31st March) are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-5pm. Admission from £3 adults and £1 children. For details call 0115 933 2371.
