CLIFTON ANIMAL LOVERS SHARE THEIR CHRISTMAS PET KNOWLEDGE

By Karen Watson
Animal experts, John Barlow and David Sweetman from 1st 4 Pets and The Clifton Reptile Centre on Southchurch Drive, are currently giving advice and tips on the best care for animals over the holiday period. They are reminding residents and local children that a pet is for life and not just for Christmas. With over 50 years of experience and knowledge of pet care between them, the pet loving duo are always happy to share their expertise with customers and the local community by visiting local schools, adult groups and people with disabilities. Their aim is to build people’s confidence to handle and care for different pets, increase their knowledge, and reduce any phobias by introducing and imparting knowledge to them on a range of domestic animals and birds, along with less conventional pets such as snakes, bearded dragons, tortoises and spiders.
David told the Local News: “We love visiting the community and we also welcome animal lovers to call or come in and see us at any time of the year particularly at Christmas if they are considering buying an animal or reptile as a gift for someone.
“If you are thinking of buying a pet as a Christmas present, make sure you or the person you are buying it for truly wants it. You have to be committed to your pet as pets don’t just live for one year, some pets can live for 20 years or more. We are always here to help if you’re unsure.”
