CAN’T WAIT FOR A453 WIDENING
I read the letter in your paper from G. Snell (Local News – October) about the widening of the A453. I drive that road every day as I work for a local bus company and do the East Midlands Airport run.
I can’t wait till it’s been done. It usually takes 50 minutes to get to the airport, but with the amount of traffic using the A453, it can sometimes take us anywhere between 90 to 160 minutes.
As for improving public transport, what does this person want? There are several buses for Clifton that run every eight to ten minutes and we run late due to traffic congestion and traffic accidents.

Mr Lamb,
I agree that there is a problem with the A453, but what do you think that widening it will help? The problem isn’t that the road is not dual carriageway, it’s that the traffic can’t leave the road at it’s ends. All that will happen after widening is that you reach the end of the queue for the motorway island much quicker than you did before, or get stuck in Clifton in record time. A great achievement from a multi-million pound exercise.
