SO SOLID CREW WIN HONOURS FOR RUSHCLIFFE
Rushcliffe Borough Council’s recycling2go service is at the top again, as a trio of triumphant bin men won ‘Crew of the Year’ at the prestigious letsrecycle.com awards in London. Scott Jackson (25), Shaun Jackson (23) and Ed Medhurst (27) returned home victorious, having been voted top bin crew in the country.
Allen Graham, chief executive, said: “This award is a testament to the fact that this crew, along with many of their colleagues, consistently go the extra mile to provide our customers with the excellent service they expect.
“Our customers often tell us that they really appreciate the work that our recycling2go teams do and we are grateful for that feedback. Scott, Shaun and Ed are brilliant ambassadors for the council and this recognition will reinforce their commitment to maintaining the top class refuse collection service.”
Darryl Burch, waste and fleet operations manager, said: “The team are the best because, not only do they do their job very well, their attendance record is exemplary, only having had two days off between them in the last two years.
“Nothing is ever too much trouble either. Going the extra mile is normal, being first to volunteer to work on bank holidays and representing the council at photo shoots, roadshows and our largest event, Lark in the Park. They work safely and have had no accidents in their four years of service. Spot checks on work methods reveal they wear the right protective gear at all times. Over the last year, the crew have reduced missed collections by over 60% by proactively knocking on doors to remind people to put them out and ensuring that if someone has forgotten to put their bin out they make efforts to ensure it’s collected.”
