RUSHCLIFFE GREENFIELDS MOVEMENT LAUNCHED

A group of residents in Rushcliffe have launched a campaign group called Rushcliffe GreenFields. The aim of this group is to represent the interests of all residents in Rushcliffe in defending the green belt land against development projects, such as the proposed new football stadium for Gamston and large scale housing developments.
Joanne Bellamy, spokesperson for the group said: “We have no political affiliation and our only remit is to ensure that residents have a concerted voice against the increasing pressure from developers and councils to build on green belt land within the Rushcliffe area.
“Rushcliffe GreenFields is run by a nominated committee of four residents, meeting on a regular basis to discuss strategy and action plans. The short term focus is on the Gamston green belt area to prove that the proposed Gamston Stadium project is totally flawed on many fronts and any further housing development plans there, will be met with a professional but rigorous protest campaign.
“The loss of the Sharphill Green Belt was a major blow to the area and went totally against the majority of residents wishes despite a well-run campaign. This proves that Rushcliffe needs dedicated campaign groups, working with established campaign groups such as FIELDS in Lady Bay, to ensure this does not happen again. We need to prove to the planning authorities that Rushcliffe residents are not prepared to accept the destruction of this beautiful and very precious green belt land, which will be lost forever if we do not fight.
“Through the committee and our advisors, we have access to extensive documentation and research to support our view that it is totally unjustified to build on green belt. Over the next few weeks, we will be rolling out an action plan to present this research and facts using media interviews, meetings with councillors and direct leafleting to Rushcliffe residents.”
A website has been launched to support the campaign by Rushcliffe GreenFields. For more details log on to RushcliffeGreenFields.co.uk

Here we go! Mention the Green Belt and out come all the whinging, left-wing, veggie, hippies. The Green Belt is out of date. It was thought up when most families only had one car!
We need more roads, car-parks and shops. What do these long-haired commies want? Do they expect me and my family to walk miles just to get to the nearest KFC? Our thighs would be chafed red-raw!
Ask my kids which they would prefer, going to see a game of footy followed by a Big Mac ‘n’ Fries or traipsing round cold, muddy fields dodging disease ridden anilmals and they’ll pick the game everytime.
This is the 21st century. Tarmac over the whole Green Belt and grow up you drop-outs!

Cronk…..I am a vegetarian because I believe in animal rights…I am a hippy at heart because I believe in love and peace, I am left wing because I believe in equal opportiunities but I am not a whinger! I believe whole heartedly in our green belt so my children have fresh air, beauty and a sustainable world….a bit more important than a burger or MORE shops in WB. You are so right though this is indeed the 21st century and we have to THINK about our world or we will lose it…its not just about what we want in the moment. I can’t quite believe you are serious (I truly hope not) your kids need much much more than a big mac and a walk sounds like it would do you all good!
