We feel compelled to respond to the letter from SM of Radcliffe who puts the blame for broken fencing along the Cliff Top on older dog walkers. We assume SM’s views are based on hearsay or why else haven’t they named and shamed the culprits to the local police or parish council? Is this the reason they also have not had the courage to put their full name on their letter? As residents who live and have a gate on the Cliff Top, our actual experiences have been totally different. As part of Transition West Bridgford, a group of local residents have set up the Solar Rushcliffe Initiative. In August, two senior architectural students of Nottingham University, Rain Luo and James Rixon, supervised by local resident and lecturer David Nicholson-Cole, will work on the initiative. They will start by mapping the areas of West Bridgford, identifying good PV potential and giving free advice to householders of the costs and payback. Ex Dayncourt pupil George Morgan had the honour of playing in a Wimbledon tennis final as he teamed up with Lewis Burton to reach the British boys’ doubles final. The duo knocked out top-seeds Duilio Beretta and Roberto Quiróz in the second round and beat German fifth-seeds Peter Heller and Kevin Krawietz in the semi-final. It was an all British affair in the final but their opponents, Liam Broady and Tom Farquharson, came out on top winning 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 on Court One.
